Hard or slippery surfaces: Use pointed or sharp studs.Soft or muddy surfaces: Use rounded or square studs.Remove studs when not riding and use rubber stoppers, steel keepers or sleepers to keep the stud holes clean.
Consider using boots or bandages on your horse to protect him from injury if he’s wearing studs. A stud girth is also a good idea if you are using studs in front and jumping.
